In this Section, Mashadi Jewish Community, you will find the basic historical information about how the Mashadi community began and the events throughout our history that have made us the unique community we are today.

You will also find pictures from the city of Mashad and its people as well as personal and family stories. We believe all members, and especially the new generation, will benefit enormously from having access to this precious information about their roots.

As far as we know, this is the first web site that will continuously present this information about the Mashadi Jewish Community on the Internet. This information can now be accessible also to all those outside our community who want to know more about us and our past.

We welcome all contributions in the form of written material, pictures or interviews, all of which would enhance this section and help to preserve the beautiful memories of our beloved community

In the Beginning (1746 - 1839):

When we study the history of the Jewish people, we encounter many oppressed and persecuted Jewish communities. One of the most famous, of course, is the community of the Marranos of Spain and Portugal of which almost everyone has heard. There is another community of Marranos that practically no one has ever heard of. They are the Marranos of Mashad, or the Mashadi Jews.
